Learning material, book suggestions please
Hi, I am unfortunatly only 15 (16 in 1 month :-D) and my maths aren''t too advanced. My maths teacher actuallly told my mother that I could easily skip a year on some sort of parent-teacher day.
As you can see I am quite talented at maths (not supposed to sound arrogant) however I can''t really start real 3d Programming without some further maths knowledge. Now what I am looking for is a book on maths which starts quite basic (we did all the simple things in class like log, sin, equations, exponential functions) so I need something on vectors, matrices and linear algebra.
Please help me.
Admirable drive to knowledge.
I can''t tell you any good AND simple books on advanced math. Problem is that vector geometry tends to get confusing once you get into the depth of it first.
Maybe this page helps you enter the mysterious world of 3D which we all stumble in so blindly :-)
Good luck

I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up

Thx for your reply. I may have forgotten to add that my father studied maths at university so I can ask him some questions, but as he isn''t a teacher (he is quite impatient
) I''d rather have a good old-style maths book.

There are lots of books on 3D game programming and many of them have an introduction to Linear Algebra at the start. Not a rigorous treatment, but enough to get you by.
Many of the DirectX specific books, however, skip the linear algebra and allow the magic to happen behind the scenes.
Mathematics for 3D Game Programming & Computer Graphics
by Eric Lengyel popped up on Amazon when searching 3D Graphics. The table of contents list vectors, matrices, and transforms. Good reviews.
The Graphics Gems series is also very good, but I''m not sure how much they introduce the math.
