Have seen a recent resurgence on Itch (for the amplest of times), which prompted the following blog entry (see image below). Have yet to determine why these seemingly-random fluctuations in page visits occur from time to time (well after promotion), as the tools provided by Itch are not adequate to ascertain the origins of these visits (and certainly not live or up-to-date). It is assumed that these visits are mostly fueled by bots (scavenging for freebies to be uploaded on the web elsewhere), and only a few who choose to ask “When will the game be ready?” are of humans (one person just asked this two weeks ago on another text adventure project); more or less.

The only recurring page visits, that are notable, are for Interactive Fiction (the light red is for Twelf Kingdoms, the purple one if for Basic CYOA, pointed with the arrow)

Dear all,

Making games, especially text adventures take up an awful lot of time and resources; of which are scarce when it comes to life (especially for someone who's dyslexic). Truth lies in the fact that making games, such as this one (or more elaborate ones that have a complex system behind them, see Twelf Kingdoms for example, another interactive fiction prototype) are only existing because of the incredible thirst for writing that one has, and not because circumstances allow it. That translates to a continuous fight between wanting to do such projects and not being able to (support them, financially).

As writing is such an integral part of one's life, to-this-day, it feels incredibly crushing not to be able to work full-time on such projects as these; knowing that there are still whom are interested in interactive fiction, and wish to have a more thoughtful and adventurous experience. Not being established simply prohibits from being able to pursue such ambitions and prevents from the making of art; of any kind.

As options for solo-developers are non-existent (apart from being able to self-fund the project, as publishers do-not deal with obscure & lone-developers), the one and only way of making sure that the project continues and sees daylight (properly) is to have your support behind it. Otherwise it'll be doomed for abandonment; which is imminent with this one as well. "Small butter on a large slice of bread can be spread only so much,"

Only you can make a difference, and show AAA developers that there's another way of doing business. Without your support, no indie developer can survive; especially the ones who are still aspiring and do not have their own footing. Your choice in life matters to others, and only you can have an impact on something that's "out of the hands" for the developers. Passion and dedication can only take a project so far, if the means aren't there to support it.

Take care,
