Game-in-a-week challenge

Yup, my GDNet journal still exists.

Mostly I blog over at my own site, but I'm posting this as I've been in a bit of a rut lately of which I need a good virtual kick to get out of. I'm setting myself a deadline of one week to make a game, no matter if it turns out very simple or crud, in order to give my brain a kick start. The point of the post here is put it on public record so good ol' guilt will keep me fired up to meet the deadline.

So by midnight UTC Thursday 17th December (11am local time), I should have put a post here with a downloadable version of the game as it stands, lest I be shamed.

The theme I've picked for myself is card-based gameplay. I'm leaning towards using SDL and C as my tech, mostly because I've used it before and I've got a hankering to use it again (despite part of me thinking a higher-level language might be wiser).

You gonna post some in-progress reports too? It might help you keep going :)

Yes. I'll probably post the long, raw, rambling versions day by day on my own site, and just post the post-mortem here. But I might post a few in development snippets here too, depending how things go.
