A Gaming Company!
Ok everyone, I''d like to hear some feedback. I have this whacked dream, that one day I shall own a large gaming corperation, and everything will be grand. Yeah yeah, you''re all thinking, who doesn''t? But this is the part where everyone else comes in. There''s a lot of involvement in gaming companies, and a lot of funding (I repeat, A LOT) but what if a rather large group of people, got together, all put money in a company pool, and then began planning after buying required software and hardware? Then after that, began planning! So they break down the project so everyone has their own part; writers, artists, programmers, ect... so it takes place in a kind of order of operations. Then once money begins to generate (regularly) the company pool is rebuilt, people are paid and the whole circle begins again. Then once money becomes a regular thing, and there are more people, and the company expands... yeah, it goes a little something like that. In fact, we all know "Billy Boy Gates" has a nice chunk to himself, but what if we didn''t want all that money? Say as the Pres, I only wanted enough to live comfortably (once money regulated) a respectable amount like 50,000. I mean, people are greedy, yes, but shouldn''t the company come first? Anyway, I should get back to flipping burgers so I can buy a book to get me started in programming! Thanks!

I think you will have peoblems finding people willing to put (enough) money in the company.
Dream on.....

I have a hard time seeing this work. It''s bad enough having people get together and work on something for free. It''s worse to ask them to pay you while they do it.
You build a large corporation by starting with a small one and making it profitable, not by asking people to donate.
Take care,
Bill

Yeah, unless you really know the people like your friends or family members that want to contribute their money to the company. And most of all, they have to have the talent. Actually, that''s how Blizzard Entertainment was formed.

Thanks guys... sigh... but the gov here sucks and won''t fund anything... and on my burger flipping wages... I''m not getting a business in the next 50 years. But thanks again for the feedback!

No offense, but why should your government fund anything?
Check out this article on funding.
If you have any of the skills that it takes to develop a game, you ought to be able to apply those in a non-game related way to make more money. Once you have more money, you can slowly build up your business. I make a killing writing business software, and that funds my efforts to make game software. But if I had simply waited until I had enough money to develop a game, I''d still be flipping burgers myself. (No offense to burger flipping, I really did spend quite a bit of time doing that. Met my wife doing that, so it wasn''t all bad.)

You may need money to publish a game, but you don''t need money to make one. Except for computers which any programmer probbaably have.
Once you have a finished product you can make money out of it(in any way you choose), and then you will have the money to invest in your company.

Well, I look at it like this. There''s absolutely no easy way of starting a business. But the government does start off some businesses, but only if they have the potential to pay them back. But as for writing software, I''m just starting to learn how to program... any one willing to recommend anything on programming in general? Because I''m getting ready to buy an $80 book... and if there''s something online I should know about, I''d love it!
