We play many Party Games, and we think there should be many more.

Our selection:

- ISS Pro 2 (International Superstar Soccer) [PS1]
- Super Mario Kart [SNES]
- Mario Kart 64 [N64]
- Micromachines 2 [SNES]
- Micromachines 64 [N64]
- Worms [PC]
- Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, Worms World Party [PC]
- Soulcalibur [DREAMCAST]
- Tony Hawk''s 2 [N64], though this is only 2 player

Not many. There should be more. We have a PS1, a DreamCast and a N64. Tekken is not really a good Party Game, since only the owner of the game can win. Soulcalibur is a better Party game in that, I think.

We also use to play a 2-8 player party-drinking-game that I''ve done for the group. It''s insane, though (and damned, it''s fun!).

BTW, a "Party Game" MUST have the possibility of playing 3-4 people in the same screen and machine. If not, it is merely a Multiplayer Game, which doesn''t suit for "partys" (usually people has only 1 computer in a room).

I think that the keys are:
- it must be fun to look at it while you don''t play (if turned) or, turns must last little time.
- it must be competitive, no friendly player in party games.
- it must be equilibrated, even worse players may win with some luck; however, best players should win more times, of course.
- it must be fun for others and a possibility of getting real fucked from time to time is fun (for others): loosing half a lap in a racing game, your worms getting exploded all at once...
- a player who is loosing can still win, this maintains the interest till the end (arcade component in Mario Kart, in worms people tends to shoot at the player who has more worms...)
- it must be graphically easy, this means, that people who does not play 24h/7d (as we readers of this boards do or did), can easy identify "how the game goes" (this doesn''t mean that it has to be extremely easy, only easily understadable).

This is what I think about Party games, a subject which I think in often.

Real programers are not afraid from maths! (but I am)

Oh, I forgot: GTA3 is not fun in group, it just make your friends wanting to play, or, worse than that, going home to play.
