3d in 2d engine light effects
I''m currently writing a 3d in 2d engine and wanted to know if someone has any idea on how to do some special effects I want to implement.
The engine first draws the scene mesh then puts a 2d rendering of the scene on top of that. After that it renders all the characters, objects etc. Pretty much the standard approach I guess.
Now, say that I want to add some light effects to this. The way I want that to work is to set up a lightsource, project it on the scene mesh, but rendered on the 2d background. Does anyone know how that is possible? (Did it make any sense at all?)
