Hi everybody! I was just wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions as to which school I should go to if I ever want to get a job at a company that makes computer games. I just grad- uated from high school and as recently as half way through my senior year I hadn''t really decided what college I wanted to go to or what to major in at whatever college I went to. So I just deci- ded to go to a community college for the time being so I''m not resting on my laurels for however long it takes for me to decide what college is the best for me. I finally decided on computer anim- ation but now I still need to figure out where to go. I would like to go to a school that''s close to home and doesn''t cost me an arm and a leg but at the same time I can get an education that is actually relevant to the industry and offers a background in what I want to do in the game deve- lopment industry. Is RIT''s computer animation program good enough where prospective employers will look at what I have to offer and actually want to hire me based on my education and skill? What about Full Sail, they claim to have the third best computer animaton program in the country but will it get me a job when all''s said and done? Is it even worth it to try to get a bachelors de- gree or can I still be hired with a certificate in computer animation depending on the school that teaches me? I just don''t want to go to a school on the other side of the country for mega bucks that ends up putting me in the line for unemployment because the course work there wasn''t wor- th it''s weight when it came time to design the character models for" super cool game company''s next big hit". (just an example ) Can anyone help me out please?

The best you could do is take some 2d art classes.
A solid knowledge of anatomy, muscle/shape flow, perpectives, color selections are the bases to be a good 2d and 3d artist.

If you want to learn a 3d tool like max or LW, there are enough tutorials online, try places like www.polycount.com

There are Art institutes that teach game art and design too, but i personally would opt for 2d courses, drawing skills is the most important thing. If you can draw, switching to 3d is just matter of learning the GUI of a 3d tool.

althought this isn''t probably where you are looking right now, but with a basic fine arts studio degree you can always look at the MIME program at Indiana University. (Masters in immersive mediated environments). Basically, they accept artists, musicians, and writers and train them for mediated environments such as gaming... Basically its a masters degree in creative thinking for games
