When are the tutorials coming!? In the start tutorials were always coming in. But NOW? Now we have trent whose tutorials are on a halt for a couple of months while Nehe doesn''t have the time to do any major updates such as NEW TUTORIALS. I want new tutorials, you guys want new tutorials but what I fail to see iswhy he can''t atleast update this site with the tutorials he''s got ready. Tutorials! I need ''em -Js Js

There are plenty of other resources, try the nVidia developer site, that has some pretty good tutorials... Try figuring stuff out for yourself for once...

i am guessing your name was chosen to throw ppl off eh? you do realize that when you do reconnoissance you actually do a preliminary examination of things. you seem to be missing that and expecting ppl do that for you in the form of tutorials. why not do something amazing and THINK. yep, break out the ide, warm up the speakers, grab a cold one, and code something original once in your life without step by step instructions and sample code you just copy and paste. the tutorials on nehe''s site give you much more then enough information to start and finish most of a simple game.

heck i got an idea, why dont YOU write some tutorials. seemingly you have no life, and feel that sites should be updated non stop. Nehe is allowed to update when he feels like it, he makes no money (or very little) from the site. you get basically all the tutorials for free which is a great bargin. maybe instead of complaining like a baby you purchase Nehe''s cd or donate money to show some support.

you cant expect him to update the site with tutorials that are half done and not fully tested. morons like you would then complain that something is not working or that the code is not good enough since you cant cut, paste, and compile it. nehe and other ppl who create tutorials work hard to help you out. at least have the decency to allow them to enjoy themselves instead of giving you code that you will call your own for some game that you wont finish because you are waiting for someone else to finish your code that you need.

Yeah remember, if someone actually submits a tutorial to me, I''ll have it posted in 3 days at the most.

But there is good news, one of my submissions for a book that should be released in the next few months was a bit too short, so I''ll be turning that into a tutorial! And to compensate for that book submission, I have to write another 21 pages within the next 4 days (and a few accompanying programs). Can we say: NO SLEEP!

Also, I have exams for the next 2 months (A-Levels are a pain the the preverbial a$$), but after exams, I''d be happy to shove some code and tutorials your way (depending on the complexity)... Generally, if you want the community to help with tutorials you should put something like... "Community tutorials on the following subjects ......... ______________ ... would be most welcome (no lib dependant tutorials that use fmod or bass biznitches)" .. you COULD leave out that bit in the brackets I suppose.

Anyway... if I knew what kind of tutorials you needed, then after my exams I''d be more than happy to help out. (I''ll be writing a mdl loading tutorial for www.gametutorials.com too when my exams are over... (2 months *sigh* such a long time with barely any coding time).

if you don't code OGL, then why do you need MORE NeHe tutorials? His tutorials are ALL openGL.

if you "need more" than logically you have made use of all his existing ones. in which case you'd know openGL. and yet you say:

i think the point people are trying to make except with more flame power is that if you've made use of ALL of NeHe's tutorials then you should be in a position where all you need is the openGL red book and you should have all the skills to figure out everything there is to know. in fact with a good book all you need is the first tutorial that teaches you how to initialize openGL and open a window using windows.h (i.e. the platform specific stuff).

also the reason you are being flamed so badly is because your first post came off as hostile towards NeHe. i believe that it wasn't your intent to insult him for not coming out with new tutorials. but hyperbole doesn't translate well over text messaging, so to all the world it looks like you are bitching out NeHe for not spending lots of time to teach YOU something that you should be able to figure out yourself if you had actually learned from his tutorials.

there is definitely nothing wrong with asking for more tutorials. the proper post that would have left you less charred would have been:

"hey, i noticed that there haven't been any updates to NeHe's tutorials. The other ones rocked and i'm just wondering if there are going to be any more coming out soon? thanks, NeHe"

Man, do you not read his news posts? Some people have a job and have other obligations besides the computer and programming. I''m not saying that you don''t have either, but you should be considerate towards his situation. His time is used up by quite alot of things. And in regards to your submission to Nehe, it might be a good idea to send it again. He recieves quite alot of e-mail, and might have deleted by accident.
