Are there any good free programs out there that are good for making characters, space ships, and exporting to 3DS?

the best program for this kind of thing is milkshape 3d. it is only $20 american and for what i can do, that is a steal.

I would have to say that gMAX is probably the best.

I think, if you work serious, then you NEED MAX or MAYA. Price doesn''t matter at all.
