Diabo 2 had an awesome story -- in manual and in game.

Yay blizzard
for best story, combined with gameplay, i would have to say Kindred Saga, which seems to be, from what i ve played of it GODLIKE!

It was made with rpgmaker2000 so i had my doubts, but it is incredibly done, and just great to play.

I thought The Longest Journey had excellent characters. Very enjoyable. The plot was rather generic.

Of the games I''ve played so far, Planescape:Torment was the best overall. The story design impressed me.
Hands down FFX. I''ve said it before, and I''ll say it again, its a work of art.
Grandia II has the best one IMO.

5) Final Fantasy 7 (only one I loved actually)
6) Chrono Trigger

Soul Reaver 1 and 2 have great storylines with nice plot twists and cliff-hangers. I''m itching for Soul Reaver 3 (if one ever comes out) so I can see what happens next!

Beneath A Steel Sky had a incredible story, mostly due to what they DON''T tell you at the start and how you must figure out whats going on through conversations with other people.

Through this you find what everyone thinks of LINC and you find that like the real world, everyone''s views are different.

Also having your entire ''family'' and friends nuked for a reason you don''t discover until near the end only fuels your desire to find out what the heck is going on.
