Do you know anywhere I can get my hands on some free (relativly) low poly game models? For things such as trees, houses, bushes, swords, and if at all possible figures? Or someone who might want to do a little modeling pro-bono Thanks

If your interested in 3D modelling, I recommend using MilkShape 3D. Visit http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/ to download this program. One problem... it is a 30 day trial.

hey vega, do you know how to read? He asked for free models, not free appz.

You just read "FREE" and "3D", and you got all excited and posted the milkshape link like a moron.

Yeah, you better feel ashamed and sorry, bozo. You can also feel lucky that I''m not a moderator, man, cause I would''ve soooo deleted ur ass right away!

That''s great and all, heh, but I still had that question....

hummm, spend a night working in a free project to someone unknown.. sound funny (sarcasm)

Solution :MADE YOU OWN MODELS!.. there are free programs, and many tutorials. Or gain the friendship to some artists ;-)

One idea is to hang out in the models section of Polygods and wait for some good models to show up, then mail the author. :D
Or if you don''t like long waiting times, you could make your own, nothing wrong with programmers art =)
There is with mine
I cant do any kind of art, period.
But I guess making your own is the best way to go, where are some of there good "tutorials" you speak of?
I have 3d studio Max 4, is that a good one to use?

Take a look at the book "Modeling a character in 3DS Max". It''s by Paul Steed which is one of the more prominent modeler/animators in the business. I have *zero* artistic talent in regards to drawing and found this book very useful. He doesn''t do much with the animation side of things but he does show you how to get from a sketch to a model.

Since I cannot do a sketch, I just bit my lip and bought Glamour, Cosmo, and GQ to get some "sketches" and then worked with them a little as a basis. If you want to be bold, you could just pay someone $10 to take a few pictures of them and off you go.

While you are probably better off using the tools he uses you can, with a little more work, use Milkshape or another more economical modler.
