Has there ever been a political game wherein you try to climb up the hierarchical political structure? Multiplayer or not?
Do you know the game Master of Orion?
It''s about becoming the leader of the universe. You and your opponents start out as a the leaders of your own planets and your objective is to conquer as many planets as you can.
Of course you''ll inevitably come across other species and you can then negotiate with them or declare war on them, and even trade in technology (or steal it from them with spies).
Every so many years a leader is to be elected. When 80 % or so votes for you, you''re the leader of the universe and you''ve won the game. If someone else gets 80 %, you can either choose to acknowledge them (game over) or oppose them, in which case the entire universe turns against you.
I''ve heard they''re working on a Master of Orion III.

I''m pretty sure that one like this has come out quite recently as a strategy game. Don''t remember the title though.

The only political aspect in that game ''masters of orion'' seems to be the voting part on the end. Conquering other planets by force is war not politics. How does the voting exacly works, when do people vote for you?

Yes, there is a development company that focuses solely on making business and political games. They are quite good actually, the latest game was featured in PCGamer. I can''t remember the name of the company or their products, but if I do, I''ll point you towards their website.

I don''t know if there has ever been one, but there is one to come soon. It''s called Republic-The Revolution.
This is its website.

Tropico (by PopTop) had some political aspects to it - not all of them "conventional" by American standards. Politics in this game involved corruption, thuggery, dictatorship, etc. I think I''ll whip ou the demo and give it a spin...
