I agree with theGilb: your trees are cool! They''d look really cool with fairly cartoony style characters.

I always find it very weird that the thing i spend most of my time doing, and which has the most direct correlation to my income and future (coding), not only makes no sense to most people, but they have no idea of the complexity involved.

For instance you spend a week learning how to load a someone''s model file and implement loading and rendering code. You show people (even other supposed coders...) and they go "wow, you''re getting good with 3d studio" at best. You explain "no, i didn''t make the model, just the code to load and render it. I only did the HARD bit! More work and it could be turned into a tool to create new models!". At this point the non coders have no idea what you are on about, and most coders with no 3d graphics experience think it must be fairly trivial.
AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHH!

OK the example is fairly trivial (at least after you''ve done it a couple of times), but you see what i mean.

Then again, at other times its rewarding to be one of few holders of Arcane Knowledge ;¬)

Still very strange that I know only 2 people in ''real life'' who have even a slight idea what I''m talking about. I''m doing a 3D game for my final university project, and have exceeded the knowledge of the university''s ''expert'' staff... Yet I''m still learning from Gamedev ;¬)

I think forums like this are what keeps us alive and coding! Without some form of interaction with like minded coders it''d be much much harder to stay motivated.

Hey, wojtos. Don''t let people displaying their ignorance get you down. You know how to do something that they never will. Personally, I like your trees. Post more pictures when you get around to it.

Hey! I liked your trees, really. I have seen that almost all PC games try to imitate real life, so they usually use just a picture of a real tree over a billboard.
But if you watch at Nintendo 64 games like "Mario 64", the ambient is more sureal, and in my opinion, sometimes more atractive and beautiful. My advise? Keep trying your modeling skills, because they are very original. I''m a bit tired of the usual boring Quake-Half-Life-Unreal look of many 3D games.
Maybe you can end up with a world that looks more fresh in style.

Keep the good job!
thank you

Same thing happens to me. Every time I write a program, I show it to my Parents and they say "Yeah thats really good!" Then when I tell them I didn''t make the models I watch theier faces drop and they lose interest.

Oh well, when I enter my LOTR demo I know(hope) you guys wont do the same.

So much talk about those trees. I like the ground and the background! Nah, Those trees are looking cool I think, and so does the other stuff! =) Keep up the good work, we will get respect from the ignorant no coding people! SOME DAY! =)

He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has
been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This
disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless
brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder
As far finding graphics for your games; I don''t know if you guys know it or not but there are ALOT of public domain models out there. Trees, vehicles, characters and all kinds of stuff. I have seen mostly 3DS stuff and Quake 1/2/3 models. A good place to start looking is www.polycount.com .

Wojtos, Don''t despair! We have all been there. Thats why I love the internet so much, I can talk to people who share the same interest that I do and are at the same experience level as me! I just wish it was around when I was in highschool, it can be very lonely being a gifted kid in a small town, i''m sure alot of you know what I''m talking about!
