Making a max plugin/exporter.
Okay, so Im guessing most of you guys, like myself, have never done this before, but I thought I should ask anyway.
Does anyone have any information on making a max plugin to export your own model format? (beats making your own model editor).
If any of you have any information that would help, it''d be appreciated. (Making the map editor is taking long enough).
Thanks in advance for any information.

Well... I once made a maxscript for it that outputted models/materials and so on to my own filetype... problem with that is however that the generated file is a TEXT file... so you will have to convert that file to BINARY... but it at least worked for me...
Hope this has helped

Writing a Max exporter isn''t terribly difficult. You can set the framework up quickly using the App Wizard, and the documentation and samples should provide you with plenty of information to do exactly what you''re trying to do.
I know that the book Game Programming Gems 2 provides a detailed walkthrough of creating a Max exporter. I imagine there are other tutorials out there as well.

Did you not install the SDK when you installed Max? Or did you pirate it, and therefore, not have the SDK?
I didnt install it... I had no plans to do any code-related stuff with max at the time, and since have forgotten about it.
Thanks for the reminder.... I now have it installed, just gotta learn how to use it. =/
Thx again.
