Actually, the primetime of the demoscene (the C64 and Amiga era) was strongest in northern europe (now I refer to those who actually did something creative (ie. not traders/swappers)). That might be a reason.

However, unfortunately it gets more and more seldom that people knows what this really is/was. I mean, on this messageboard some people wasn''t even born when the first intro/demo like scene appeared.

As an example, in Sweden, the two major game developers, Digital Illusions and UDS both heavily originates from demogroups on the Amiga. Actually, the CEO of Digital Illusions was once known as Animal/The Silents as an example.

There are two major game companies in Finland, too. Remedy (currently making Max Payne) and Housemarque, which just finished making Supreme Snowboarding.
