I would go for Borland if I had to choose between those 2, because I know Borland and it''s quite good and I don''t know the other one at all... but if that''s a choice, you''d be even better with VC++ 5 or 6
Subotron: Dev C++ uses an older version of GCC. Obviously it''s very high quality
.
BTW: This is one of the most pointless questions ever.

So 1 say i should use Dev-C++4 and 1 say i should use Borland C++ builder 5...Im currently useing Dev-C++ 4 on a windows XP system and I cant texture Map for some reason so im currently downloading Borland C++ 5 to try it out and see which 1 I like better.

You know very little about OpenGL, don''t you? It''s not the compiler''s fault. Let me guess: you''re trying to use GLaux? Simple answer: Don''t. Look at NeHe''s 25th tutorial.

LOL!!!! Use Microsoft Studios Enterprise Editon. Cost alot tho...sure you can find a hacked version tho. DevC++ is crap, but its free. I remember using it...it worked up untill i started making windows programs...Good luck, just hope you have broad band.

If you''d rather not pay the price asked, why should you seemingly support their pricing to everyone who knows you''re using it by using their product? Don''t pirate.

A poor workman blames his tools.

I didn''t pirate, I PAID. But im saying, im sure you can find a free copy out there. And a poor worksman? No comment on that, you dont even know the god damn link errors i kept getting.
Hi there,
I use Dev''C++ and can compile everything so far OpenGL and W32 related. But DirectX is being a major pain in the ars*!
I do use Windows98 though.

I actually just downloaded both DevC++ and Borland about 2 weeks ago. I didn''t have any problems using either, though I think I prefer Borland because I''m used to the command line stuff. Anyway, I think both work well enough. My only comment is that the executable generated from my Borland compiler tends to be significantly larger than with Dev-C++.
