Visual C++ and Borland C++ are just compilers for the same language (just as Frontpage and Netscape Composer are both visual HTML editors; they''re both different, but when you save, they ''compile'' into HTML language; the difference is that in Frontpage and Composer you move around pictures and it makes the code for you, and in Visual C++ and Borland C++ you write the code and it compiles into binary)

For game \ directx programming Visual C++ is the most widely used, but for Application RAD (Rapid Application Development) Borland is *much* better that visual c++.

As someone said thay both compile c++ code, but they aint perfect at it!
Most book writers use MSVC++, so when they tell you how to add a directory to your program, and a few more little things.

Borland and Visual C++ aren''t different languages, they''re different C++ development environments, each which offers its own advantages and disadvantages.

Use MSVC++ version 6.0. Why? Basically because everyone uses it so you have alot better chance of finding information and getting help on it.

You might want to use Borland if you''re doing lots of Win32 GUI stuff, thats something its really nice for.
