folks all I hear about are the 2 big names MAYA 4 and 3D Studio MAX......What about using LightWave 7? Do any users recommend this app and what are it''s PROs and CONs compared to the other 2? Also, would you recommend learning this app to strengthen your employment opportunities? How does LightWave 7 compare to the other ''big boys''? thanks all!
I found a *cof cof* "freewarez" copy of lightwave7, but sincery i am very happy with 3dsmax so i never install the lw7. I work in the past with lw5 and is good programs but very similar to 3dsmax.

Darkfudge, I''ve used (and still do) Lightwave 6.5, and I honestly think the modeller is better than any other I''ve tried, including MAX and co. The problem is the underdeveloped animation features which isn''t so hot as the others, but still more than you need for most things.

The interface isn''t standard Micrsoft (ie, File, Edit, Help, etc,) but modelling is way faster and easier when you get the hang of all the hotkeys.

Try a demo and see how it feels... and if your curious, the Serious Sam modellers used Lightwave, so it''s not just MAX...

I used Lightwave6.5 for a little. I used the animator more then the modeller. I haven''t had a chance to use it much lately but what I did figure out was pretty cool. At the Lightwave website theres a link in the gallery to one guy''s site where he has like a 3-5 min video done in lightwave THAT was cool.
