I like alot of people can't afford to get MAYA or 3DstudioMax... I'm also a programmer so I don't really have any experience with any of these programs. Anyway I found this program over at tucows, its freeware and I was wondering what people with experience think of it. Bearing in mind its free and I'm just trying to get into / get a feel for 3d modeling. So could u download and evaluate the program? Thanks alot for in advance for any advice, opinions. www.tucows.com Now3D 1.19.47 -EDIT- Its only 3.4Mb and a plugin pack is also available.(240kb) Edited by - Infinisearch on January 18, 2002 9:47:29 PM

I haven't used 3dNow but a great freeware 3d modeling/animation package that I am currently learning is Blender

The interface is a bit overwhelming at first, but there are also a lot of user tutorials available.

i''ve tried 3dnow for the past couple of days. it''s quite confusing, at least to me. it''s also a bit slow.

well, im no 3d sluth or anything. heh. but i have been useing milkshape 3d for the longest time now. its modeling tools are really easy to grasp and in a week you can get making really complex things. usually, i take those models into bryce and render them.
bryce isnt free. but heh. i heard that there was a free version of truespace known as "Truespace SE" now. if you got that, it would make a good renderer for a new person. milkshape isnt free. its $20US but man, thats so cheap for what it can do.

oh some things about ms3d, it is not a package renderer. all it is meant for is making low poly models for the game exporteres it comes with. now, you dont have to use it for that, i can be used to make models for whatever medium you wish. texturing is a little 2d though. a lot of people use lithunwrap as a painter tool for it. personally, im not very good with that tool so i just paint my skins in photoshop and stretch them in ms3d.

but, for a cheap modeler thats easy to learn, i recomend it.
