Fords will be the only car i ever buy. (unless i become bankrupt and am in need of a cheap alternative)
cheap alternative, how does a Camira with 10 months rego for either $50 or a case of beer sound?

Don''t worry, I think he took it to the wreckers before december, but it was still a laugh.

Hi Guys,
Yet another Aussie here, I''m from Melbourne. I have to agree with the comments that the game industry in Oz is very small and hard to get into. I''m a 31 year old prof software engineer, but I started doing a degree in electronic engineering. The closest employment I can get to gaming is in the electronic gaming machine industry (ie pokies.) I get to do some OpenGL stuff under Windows occasionally but thats a luxury.
Stick with it, and best of luck.
Ok, ok, no more car arguments, if it goes, thats good enough for me!.

I just helped me g/f dad at plastering today, im so glad im a computer nerd, air conditiooning, typing, playing games while the bosses don''t watch, im so lucky. Instead of sweat, heat, lifting, pushing, back cramps.

Anyway, i just got an offer from SA compuetr science, adelaide uni, but im still going with IFT at CSU. There is a lot of work out there, especially for us newbie starters, as Australia is making a big move towards IFT and especially the Gameing industry, since one good game can make millions, and it helps our import/export stats. Well so Ive read anyway.

Shit, Ive never met this many aussies before, thats amazing!
3d programming is hard, with the maths though, but im getting the hang of, well g/f here gotta go

Computer science eh? That was my second preference, ''cause there was software engineering available at Mawson Lakes Uni, and uni of SA is far more widely known & popular for its computer courses. If you get into it and dont like it, it''ll be hard for you to change.
IF this is an Aussie Post, you''ve got my shout (from Sydney).

I strongly support the fact that there is next to null that this country can offer in the way of Game Development.

For all of you that must know, I am starting year 9 and have got to start thinking about our work-experience for year 10. Anyone got any suggestions? I''m completely stuck, I need help!

I find it extremely disappointing in the limited choice (if any) of game development courses down here at Oz and that it is going to be a great challenge for me to do what I desire in my own country.

Hey another Aussie here. I studied Comp Sci and Comp Eng at the Uni of Newc and am now studying a PhD at the Uni of Adelaide. I am working for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation writing simulations, which is about as close as you can get to writing games without writing games.

Here is a list of Australian game studios that I know of. Anyone know any others?

HI all,

another Australian here.

on the whole Java thing. Dont avoid it, as the Java industry is picking up a lot of momentum here in Australia. I did my degree at Deakin Uni in Geelong, majored in Comp Sci and Software Engineering. Been out in the industry 3 years (approx). Not the game industry, this is just a hobby. I am a Senior Analyst/Architect/Programmer at the company I work for.

Best of luck to everyone heading into Uni.

- Shane

PS: the guy that said youll come out with less braincells is correct... man I miss uni sometimes

There''s alot of Game Developers in Australia, eh?
