I finally set it all up, thanks for your help
I finally got borlands comp set up with opengl,
and is anyone over 16 here? im 18, but been programming for three years, ive only statrted 3d yestardy
I''m 19 currently. Came in contact with PC''s about 10 years ago. First I learned some basic-programming, then some turbo-pascal(dos), and after a quiet period, I''ve been learning the basics of about every popular language, like Java and C++. Now, I just program Delphi. BTW : I''m wondering more how many (if any) people here are UNDER 16....
Newbie programmers think programming is hard.Amature programmers think programming is easy.Professional programmers know programming is hard.
I think you''ll find that a lot of people here are under 16. I''m 14 and I know there are people younger than me.
Mind u, age doesn''t make a difference really, except when you are judging their work.

I''m 27, but I''ve been programming since I was 7

Bah, I hate these "how old are u, and how good are u" questions. It always makes me depressed
. Anyway, I''m 16 and I''ve been programming C++ for about 1 year, started with OpenGL sometime before this christmas.

I''m 14, I''ve been programming for 3-4 years, I haven''t exactly grasped OpenGL yet but I recently learned Simple DirectMedia Layer, so I now have a better understanding. If I were to try to learn OpenGL now I could probably understand it alot better than before. I programmed in Visual Basic; it was too easy. I programmed in Java; I didn''t like it. I wen''t to C++ and I found my ideal language. The only thing I''m really having trouble with in C++ is pointers. But I''ll figure them out - basically I know how to do them I just can''t find a use for them.
In SDL, I could probably make a few decent 2D games. Once I make some good SDL games I am going to get a book on 3D theory, and re-read ''opengl game programming'' to learn OpenGL with more of an understanding.

I''m 16 years old, and started programming back in the day when BASIC was commonly used (go ms quickbasic!). I don''t recall my age at the time. Around the age of ten I began using the crappy system called Click & Play, where I learned about event based game structure, then I started visual basic some time after that and made a bunch of funny little games and apps. I''ve been using c++ for about two and a half years now, and opengl for just as long. Most people here are around my age or younger. I always wanted to make games, ever since I learned about quick basic, way back in the good ol'' days. Age really doesn''t make a difference, it''s determination. The problem is that most young people don''t have the determination to FINISH something they START. That was always my problem, but I''m mostly past that now. But then again, that''s not just a problem with young people, now is it? If you have the tools, the time, and the determination, you can make a lot reguardless of your age. Oh yea, and quality is relative.

Ok, well i wasn''t having a go at your ages, i m just jealoues because i wish i was that young when i started, cus i wouldve been makeing quake by now. i started with the commodore 64, way back before QB, but it crashed, and it wasn''t until i was about 14 that we got a computer, but without the net, so about 15 i was connected. but i was ignorant and thought wyou couldn''t make programs on computers, it took me a while to figure out that you could, then i started with QB. An does anyone reckon when you make a one sided triangle in opengl and spin it on its x-axis, it looks really funny?
