I don''t care about answering stupid question (or to stupid ppl).
But IMHO we don''t have to give the answer right away, so they just copy/paste some sample code.
I think we have to teach them why this is the right answer, and where they can look to get further explanation.
The problem is, they obviously can''t understand the whole theory since they''re newbies, so we can''t explain everything. But at least give them some clues, they''ll probably understand why they did a mistake or where they could have looked for.
As long as each newbie has his unique point of view, he can not just read some threads and say "that''s the answer I wanted!". They have their own problem and don''t feel when a topic is closely related to their problems.
The thing I DO NOT WANT is having separated forums "OpenGL for beginners" and "OpenGL for advanced users" like OpenGL.org has. NeHe''s message board attracts a lot of beginners, thanks to his very nice tutorials. We''ll always have ppl somewhat boring. Don''t blame them, most of them don''t even know how a message board "works".
A personal Request

well, i dont mind ppl to put questions all the time because "the one o teachs, learns twice", so by helping others ure learning to, and u get high on ppl''s consideration.. it works for me.
Even so, i agree with him, cause by having the solution to our problems in a flash wont make us learn, unless we try tu figure and optimize. Untill today ive never asked for help, and always figured stuff bymyself and thats really cool!! I think if didnt do like that i wouldnt know half of what know today.. but dont get me wrong, i dont know much.. i like to think of my self as average coder (+/-), but i try do evolve and dont stay sit w8ting 4 other to solve my problems.. this is true for real life.. today if u dont move.. ure good as dead.. well ignorant, a good example is that 90% of the USA population is dumb. A few motnhs ago i was watching howard stern''s program (it sucks by the way.. but nice bobs :D) and there was this kind of contest and q on the question was "100/10", none of them new the right anwser.. do u? hehehehe
so, use ure brains, evolve, and practice, and practice.. and practice, and when ure over, practice a litle more
well.. bye

my gripe with this forum are the responces.. there have been many time someone asked a question only to have a responce that had nothing to do with the request.
and how long is a good time to search for the answer on your own? i think this is what this forum is all about. granted searching the forum first is a good start. this is obviously a place for nubies, if everyone knew what they were doing no one would need this place.
thats my 2 cents.
