Is this enough to get a game programming job?
Well, from what I have read it would only help, not close the deal. What developers want in a programmer is real drive, so if you have ANY completed game, pop it in ur portfolio for when you attempt to get a job. As long as they can tell that for one, you have talent, AND you have drive. Now if you can present a game with cool graphics in the same package, ooohh it''s a good thing. I doubt that you could get hired JUST because you can make a terrain engine. You should have an idea of game structure, how to make more aspects of a product. Anyway, just my view on it all. I wish you the very best of luck in getting hired. Based on what you''ve posted here it looks like you ARE talented!

dang.....
I was hoping it would be enough so I could get a job now, instead of having to wait two months while i finish the demo.
I intend to make this into a demo game, but me and my artist buddy think it will take about 2 months to get it done and I really wasn''t wanting to wait that long.

Well... You COULD try now, but I would wait.

Think about it this way...if you get a game job now, based on a partially finished demo, they are going to pay you less than if you come in with a completed game. You''ll be a much more desireable candidate once you have the game in your portfolio.
Good luck!
Good luck!
As for what the AP said, that assumes you get hired at all with the partial demo.

I already checked out the site you gave in the ''help wanted'' forum. I''d have to say that you should make a game first, using your engine. I saw the graphics of your engine, and by that I know you are talented, but from what I hear, the people in the industry are real hard-asses, and they look for just about everything they can in a programmer.
Good luck.

hmm, yeah I had considered that. Although money isn''t what is most important to me right now, getting a job at a place I like and doing a game I really enjoy doing would be more likely with a better demo and more offers as a result. Either way I was planning on finishing the demo anyway.
Additionally completing a demo will allow me to get a lot of free advertising from websites, since they are going to want to show their website viewers a free demo... I think anyway, maybe not I dunno.
