Fake "realistic" car-simulator.
Almost all "realistic" car simulator in fact feel very bad. Mainly in the transmission.
When you change the transmision speed in a simulator, then is very easy (dummiest), from 0 to 20mph = first speed, 20 - 40mph = second speed, 40-70 = third speed... (for sample). If you go over/under this speed you blow the motor or the speed fall down.
In a real car, the transmision is more flexible. In fact in some cases, you can run in first speed for a long time (gain acceleration easily), in a slope you can jump to high transmission speed (from 1st to 5th in no time), in another cases, you must run only in 1st or 2nd because if you run in 3th you cannot go ahead in some parts of the track.
just a think.

nothing like a good ol' 5.7L 345HP, V8 Pushrod Engine!
I love to spank Porsche's, NSX's, other HIGH priced imports for 1/3 of the price!

Why don''t you introduce double clutching, pausing with the clutch disengaged before throwing it in reverse due to lack of synchros, clutch feathering technique, limited slip diffs, tire pressure factors, and so on?

I''ve got a factory stock import that will easily beat all those cars (even throw in the Viper, Farraris, and Mclearans)...course mine only has two wheels, a 1000cc 4 cly engine, 6-speed tranny, run 9''s in the 1/4 mile and cost a bit over $10,000 new...all while getting 35-40 miles per gallon!

Im talking about cars :D i love bikes! what u got? ''Busa?
Eng3d...you apparently have not played the Gran Turismo series.
End of discussion.
Seriously, though, that game has a very realistic feeling transmission. Check it out, if you haven''t already. GT3 almost REQUIRES the wheel, though.

Close!...same make...different model...2002 GSX-R1000...haven''t gotten it to actually run in the 9''s yet...at 95MPH, the gas tank keeps smacking me in the head when I snap open the throttle (ouch!...this bike is freaking scary powerfull!)
But cars are cool too (I used to be a auto mechanic)...as far as driveing games and the car transmission...one thing to remember is that gear ratios are not evenly spaced...first gear could get you to 20MPH...second to 40MPH...third to 65MPH...fourth to 75MPH...and fifth to 100MPH (just useing your average ordinary car as an example)...in real race cars tire diameter, final gear ratio, and transmission gear ratios are all designed to compliment the engine output through a specific RPM range...this isn''t the case with street cars (even sport cars like the Viper) as other issues such as fuel economy, long term reliability, and such are major engineering concerns.
But going back to bikes...I would love to see a real bike raceing game...sorta as a mix of Grand Turismo crossed with Driver...not track basied...but on real city streets with traffic, etc...sort of a ''test ride'' type idea, so players can really see how quick and fast sportbikes really are...doesn''t have to be completely realistic (just a over the top type of game where you could try things that no normal person would do in real life)...but drop the ''tilt-world'' camera when leaning deep in turns (it''s not realistic...we riders try to keep our heads (and view of the world) as upright as possable when leaned over like that
