Hey! So right now, I'm thinking of releasing a Steam Game for like 10 bucks (CAD) and I have a couple questions regarding taxes.
So this is what I understand:
- Steam takes a 30% cut
- I pay income tax for Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) (Basically the IRS of Canada)
- Steam takes care of the VATs, the GSTs, HSTs, etc… so I don't need to worry about that
Questions
1) If I have multiple games on Steam all to make money with, do I report the incomes separately or as one because it comes from one source; Steam?
2) Let's say I sell a game for 10CAD, and make $1000 total revenue that year.
Steam's 30% cut → $700
Taxes (20%) → $560
Does this count as business income, or like a royalty? (Canada, Ontario)
I'm just a college student so I'm quite broke, to afford an accountant or legal advisor, so I thought I'd ask here.
Any input would be appreciated!
