Wanting some ideas on how to pitch an idea for a weapon asset for a video game

I have an idea for a weapon that could be used in either a first person or third person game and I was just curious as to what the best way to pitch the idea would be. My idea has to do with the programming side of the asset, however my code will change the appearance of the weapon and my art skills aren't the greatest to do any mock-ups of the design.

Get a job working on a game that can use your weapon idea. That's the best way to pitch it. A less-good way to pitch it would be to go on the main forum where players of that game congregate, and share the idea there. When/if the idea gains traction, maybe the dev team will implement it.
