If there is a community rule against posting against posting to really old threads (i.e. necroposting), then it would be best if the forum software automatically locked these threads. This would remove the all-too-common user error of not checking the age of a thread before posting.

I second this. I'm not sure why someone even needs to request it. Seems a no-brainer.
