RenderDoc 1.3 has been released. It includes bug fixes and general improvements to the tool and API.

Highlights for this release include:

  • Support for YUV/YCbCr textures on all APIs that support them natively
  • OpenGL no longer requires extensions for replay - required extensions are emulated. Minimum OpenGL 3.2 or OpenGL ES 3.0.
  • One-click button to load the last run capture session

  • OpenGL persistent buffer mapping refactored to behave more like Vulkan
  • Vulkan shaders accessing descriptor arrays will have dynamic GPU feedback fetched to determine which indices are used and only display these indices in the pipeline state view and texture viewer thumbnails

Also with this release, RenderDoc has released the results of their recent survey, which highlights some interesting information about developers' use of graphics debugging tools. 635 respondents answered the survey, which included questions such as which graphics debugger developers prefer, why they like their preferred debugger, and where they heard about RenderDoc.
