Hey guys, I'm 14 years old and I'm wanting to become a professional game developer. I'm currently in search of a mentor who knows how to code (and maybe knows how to draw, because I want to get better at it).I'm not willing to pay due to my age being that of 14 years old.If you have discord, mine is Cobra#2289. (This is my first time here).
Hi, I'm looking for a gamedev mentor!
Why do you want to settle with one mentor when you can have many mentors instead?
The entire forum is filled with people that consider game development interesting. A lot of them are happy to answer your questions.
just start experimenting and learning, and asking questions in the forum when you have them. You may also want to try giving others some help.
Yeah I guess so,but imo I usually do better when someone who has experience in drawing and coding can specifically teach and correct my mistakes. When someone helps me out I usually do better than learning on my own.Again this is my opinion.
I agree that is very helpful. You can do that too here. Just show your work and ask for feedback.
As a side-note, very few people are good in both drawing and coding. Most likely, you would need 2 mentors at least. Even then, one mentor (for one type of feedback) is still only 1 viewpoint other than yourself. The beauty of having several people reacting is that you get more viewpoints, so you can learn more from the same work.
