Double Buffering or bit 3 of 3DAh?
Which is better (produces less flicker): Double Buffering or figuring out the bit 3 of 3DAh thing? If it is 3DAh, please tell me how to read from it. The flicker I get when writing directly to the buffer every frame is a quick white flash. The background is black.

First off, I''m assuming you mean "blitting during vertical retrace" when you say "bit 3 thing." Blitting during vert retrace is where the system does all its blitting as the electron gun is moving its way back up the monitor.
It only works if you can actually complete all your blits in the time it takes the gun to move back to the top of the screen. More than likely, you''ll have too many blits to do this fast enough.
Most games use double buffering, and flip the backbuffer to the gfxmem during vertical retrace.
