where to start. You ever feel like you have all the tools to build something, you just don't have the instructions pad with you? That's where I'm at. I'm stuck between all this knowledge I have to build a game. The story, plot weapons armor activities of what you can do in the game. But the only part I'm missing the tech part. Honestly I want to learn to a certain point but I don't want to spend my life learning code. I just want to make games. So I'm hear to learn

You require a lot of skill, experience, time, and money. Thousands of pages full of ideas and thoughts isn't enough. However, if you have a lot of money at your disposal then you can hire professionals to help make your 'dream' game. If it will be the "best" or not is another story.

Best of luck.

Thanks. I've been researching and I understand the time and money part. investors copy right. I know its going to be a crazy ride but I'm ready. Also thanks

To make a game -- and I mean any game, not just the latest and greatest MMO -- you're going to need a programmer, or for simpler games you might be able to get away with someone who's comfortable using visual scripting systems (such as those provided by software like Game Maker, Construct, Unreal Engine Blueprints, etc.).

You can either put in the time and effort to learn for yourself, or you can find someone else to do the programming for you.  If you elect to find someone else, they're probably going to expect to be paid; sometimes you can find another beginner that will volunteer to help out for free while they're learning, but they often won't be reliable, and certainly wouldn't be producing a blockbuster game like the latest MMOs any time soon.

Those big AAA MMO games you see are made by large teams -- I'm talking hundreds of people -- of professional developers who have years of experience and millions of dollars in funding.  Unless you're independently wealthy you're probably going to need to set your goals a little lower.  That being said, if you're willing to put in the time and effort, the great news is that it's possible for you to make a fantastic quality game with a much smaller team and budget, and with all of the great tools and resources (Unity, Unreal, etc.) available these days it's easier than ever to make something of surprisingly good quality.  Do keep in mind though, there really are no shortcuts, and it will take lots of practice and hard work.

So, to offer you further advice, we really need to know how you want to proceed: do you have the money to hire a programmer to do the work for you (in which case we would give you advice about starting a business, hiring help, documenting your designs for the programmer to work on, etc.) or are you going to learn to do it yourself (in which case we can advise you on what options there are to learn, how to get started, etc.)?

I have a couple programmers, a couple of artist and some people that can make music. I understand that the game I want to make is going to be millions of dollars, but I can't go backwards. I want to learn as much as I can but I need this game to come out. not just for money but because it's my dream. to make video games. To be a leader in developing games. I'm not rich or anything. I do have sales and marketing under my belt so I know how to talk to people. I don't want a shortcut. I want this to be just as hard so when I make my next game. I already know what I want to do. I have web design under my belt but not game design. I would like to know where to start in starting my own gaming business. I get the business sale. investors. I didn't think about documents of what the programmers would be working on.. How do you start a game company and how do I find other people that own game companies?

I want to start there. Then I want to here all the worst gaming stories.  I was just watching this link of how many games that people were waiting to come out, but were cancelled from company changes like Disney- to prey 2 where they felt the game wasn't up to their standards.  I'm also asking questions. so if I'm not here. I'm on somewhere else asking questions so I can learn more and more about the gaming business.
