I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but is it possible to create The Walking Dead inside of Unity? I'm not talking about just the world. I mean the choice system, movement system, cursor, and everything the walking dead has. Now, just wondering, is it possible to have the same shader as The Walking Dead games?

EDIT: I do have some knowledge with Unity.

The shader is a bit of a pain because you have to code it yourself but everything else is a yes.

Games like The Walking Dead is just a visual novel with 3D graphics. Just note that this isn't a small project, animations and 3D models that look good enough from that near to the player takes a bit of work. Story could be very difficult unless you have one.

The core behind making the 3D work is designing stage settings and not a world. I often see people who try to make these creating whole landscapes when they only need a small part of it.

But yes Unity gives you all the tools you need you just need to know how to use it.

What would be a good Starter project? If you know Bendy and the Ink Machine, would a recreation of that be hard?

Have you seen Battle Chef Brigade's opening? The game uses full sprites and just "jumps" between them. Starting like this is a great idea.

Games like The Walking Dead actually look very similar to Battle Chef Brigade during production, except instead of refined drawings it is often quick sketches and google images. The game basically evolves from this 2D rough design into a 3D adventure game.

So if you start with making a small rough 2D scene you will already have designed a lot of the code you need.

Just remember to remove all the concept/ rough art by the end, if you don't you get the Telltale's Batman incident.

It is. Use of Unity is not the same thing as game design. Moving elsewhere.

That sounded harsh

That seems like a tough one m9. I'm sure it's possible. Viewtiful Joe on GameCube had a similar art style as well hah
