Evolutionary RPG
We have a new computational language that is base a bit on the action of Ray''s Tierra (aka. competition for processor time). We developed the beast for a biotech project over 2+ years ago and are now turning it into a game. We are looking to release of it through a new gaming environment (RPG based) modeled in a world where time and matter have been inverted. Basically, we want to put players into a Primordial soup and have them fight to have control on the way life in an exobiotic system evolves.
That is the code that guides the program in itself does not care about its digital structure rather it cares about the way (kinetically) it is processed.
Sound interesting?

Sounds intriquing, but a bit abstract. Could you give us any more details. Although one thing that you may well have to note is that this will be very difficult for non-scientists (I would imagine)

Huh?
Could you explain this better?
Thanks for the replies and skepticism. The project is quite scientific. What we are doing is using ''hardware speed'' as a secondary level of markup. By this I mean that we have been able to float large calculations in part by placing some of the needed operations on a second clock (i.e. hardware timing). The rest is to complicated I guess for this forum. We will be releasing the language open source as it gets to a stage that its refinment is worth while (some of which will go through the Forge). Just wanted to get a quick review on it.

Hmm...is this meant to be edutainment, to teach people the fundamentals of biochemistry, or are you taking the properties of biochemical systems and trying to base a role-playing engine on them?
Interesting in theory, anyway. Good luck! I look forward to seeing more proof of concept work.

No we are using the basic physical structure of life as it has been catagorized on Earth (i.e atom, molecule, cell, organ, organism, ecosystem, etc) and bring a game to life that crosses more than just two of these elements (i.e organism and ecosystem or as refered to by gamers as character and world). This of course perhaps will sound like other projects from the Alife arena.
However ALL alife projects to date are based on Earthly Kinetics. The goal of this project is to look at life under a different set of kinetics. Non scientifically put. If you evolved to life on a planet with an average temperature of 200 C what would you be made of and how would this influence the way you look. Sure its science but its all not real and therefore we decided to ramp it into a game!
Of course one must cut out all the real BS!
