I have a feeling alot of you are giong to tell me this isn''t possible. I am just finishing up my HyperCube and finishing the screen saver, and now my friend has come up to me asking me to do somthing. He takes Kong Fuu, and wants me to program a 3d human doning some moves. He doesn''t need to be animated, but i need to know how i would go about making a guy??? Or is it just to complicated for me??? Please answer asap, he is coming over saturday with sketches on the 5 moves so i need to have the guy somewhat done.
1) Scan your friends pictures into your computer
2) Do an animated sequence using textured quads with the moves
3) I think this is not what you wanted, you wanted 3d right?

The main problem with doing a 3d human with 2d sketches from your friend. Either find some sort of program that makes a 2d image 3d or use some 3d editor to actually make the 3d polygon figure. Then, learn how to load 3d models, and check out how Shining Knight animated his 3d characters on NeHe's site, check it out here

The fact of the matter is that you making an animated person is well doubtful unless you have had experience using 3d editors. Your friend is trying to make you do too much; slow down.

One suggestion is to look on the Internet for some Quake or Unreal Tourn models (there are some good ones) and learn how to display those and animate them.

That would be the best thing to do; find a samurai ninja or something model that looks like the Kong Fu guy and animate it. A peice of cake!

Good luck!

Thanks for your input, you really helped, but im not even close to hitting the game tutorials. I guess he will have to wait a few weeks. Nobody that doesn''t program understands how much time programming takes...

Thanks alot

That''s the sad truth; the mental capacity, will power, and genius one must have to program exceptionally well is far beyond that of most professions.

The time it takes for one to become a master programmer is far greater than that of time itself.
~Wow, I just thought of that one, deep huh?

No problem helping ya, I am glad to. If you need some more advice etc. I would be willing to help.
Ok thanks anyways!
I tried explaning this in some detail at Cornflakezone.com, I''ve posted lots of code, even some screen shots (you''ll have to go to the beta site for those, checkout:

Here''s a shot of the tool I used to create, bone and animate the model, it''s ENTIRELY homegrown.
