I cannot find any info or i just dont know what to search for when trying to find how to program a dating sim.
I'm going to start programming a dating sim but have no clue how to.

What program language do i have to learn?
Best program to use to program game?

I've heard that Ren'Py is the go-to tool for VN style games.

Well if you want to do a console window style game you can use C#, Python, or C++ fairly easily. There is tons of documentation on all of those languages if you do not know one yet. If you want to do one with graphics and are using an actual window then look at Unity, XNA, DirectX with C++, or drawing in C#.

Are you doing console window or regular window?

Will the game be text based, use 2d, or 3d art? This would help in deciding on which language to start.

However, your best bet is to start with the Game's Design Doc before picking a language to build the game. By writing out a game design or development doc you will actually learn a fair amount about the game. You can also get a feel for the games mechanics and the artwork or other media pieces likes sound you may need for the completed project.
