I feel fairly confident with my 2D DirectX skills... when can I move on to 3D? I''ve made pong and my own little RPG in 2D using tiles, just asking every their opinion on what I should do. Btw, I really wanna do 3D

This link will walk you through learning 3D. DO NOT go out any buy a book on Direct3D for an older version or DirectX because D3D has become a million times easier to use in 8.0.
