MSVC++ 6.0 and WinXp
Guys.... hope one of you can help me out here, cause im pretty much at the end of my rope with regards to this.
When I try to install MSVC++ 6.0 on WinXP.. it gets to the second screen of the installer..... then crashes. ( just the installer crashes.... not XP )
It seems like the installer simply isnt compatible with XP.. however.. I had the same problem with max4 and I updated c-dilla and it worked from then on.
Does anyone know of a similar fix/solution that will allow me to install MSVC++ 6.0 on XP.
Either that..... or I have to go back to WinMe.... which would be a damn shame after using WinXP....
Thanx in advance for any help.... hope someone can :/

It installed fine on mine (XPpro), I used Fat32, only thing that I could think is different between our installs.
no, ntfs isnt the problem, crashes when installing is more likely due to other programs installed, all those B***$%Ds which sit there on the task bar eating resources like a mutated pacman.
ive got ntfs and ive had no problems.
kill every program that you can, press ctrl-alt-del and delete some processes, some programs dont show up as tasks you see.
other than that i cant help im afraid.
"why dont you work you f*#@&$g piece of junk!"

lol... of all the damn crapola luck.
It installs on EVERY machine in my house ( bro''s two laptops, our two proliant servers, and even my bro''s desktop. ) All using XP or Win2k.
But nooooooooo it wont install on my machine!
And I cant put Win2k on my machine instead because when I install the sound card drivers it hangs the system and I have to reformat. O_O
*sigh* Maybe this is an omen..... not sure how to decipher it.
1) I''m not destined to code.
2) Im destined to be stuck on old OS'' lol.
Bah...... I''ll keep looking for the problem.... once it''s installed I know it''ll work fine... if only the damn thing would install.
Thanx anyway guys.

Are you logging into XP with a user ID that has admin security?
If not try logging in with the user ID you created when you first installed XP.

One other thing you might check is your system memory. I had a problem similar to that and it and it turned out to be a bad stick of memory. It would register all the memory but would cause my machine to crash when intalling programs. Was very frustrating.
If you are the only one that can fix it, why are you complaining to me?
