Anyone know were I can download the source code to the OpenGl screensavers that shipped with WinNT and later versions of 95 and 98 i.e. Maze scr, and pipes scr. I know you can download the C code but I haven''t been able to find them _______________________ Home of my screensavers http://www.lancs.ac.uk/ug/gilleade
Err... This -is- Microsoft we''re talking about here... This might seem like a radical idea, but have you considered that maybe the reason you can''t find the source code to the Windows OpenGL screensavers is because Microsoft never actually released the source code? What makes you so sure source is available?

Hehe... Microsoft doesn''t believe in open source... Much less free source! Sooooo, the code to actually make the program in the screensavers isn''t too hard to figure out. And making the program into a screen saver isn''t too much harder.

Well, I believe that the source code for all of the screensavers was either included with the MSDN disk, or on the VC++ disk that came with Visual Studio 5.0 as one of the sample programs. I''m not completely sure, and can''t check right now because I''m not at home, but I believe that they were. Even if they are, you might have to do a bit of searching in order to find them, I don''t think that they were in an obvious place.

I cant find it, if you said they were in Visual Studio''s 5.0

Maybe check 6, mine doesn''t have it tho, or maybe i was just looking in the wrong place. Sry if this helps or not, maybe try searcing MSDN...im sure you have already tried tho.
Its definately on the MSVC 5 cd. I dont have that disc handy anymore, but I remember that they are DEFINATELY there, I used to read through them

If it''s the OpenGL aspects you''re most interested in, check out Jamie Zawinski''s xscreensaver site. It''s a collection of *nix screensavers (most OpenGL) with Open Sources and screenshots (including Pipes, etc).

Oh, and btw I''d like to see if the Microsoft haters can respond to this [sarcasm]"Evil Zorg won''t release code to their screensavers! They''re aiming for total screensaver monopoly!"[/sarcasm]

If you don''t know, STFU!
I know the code exists however the link that use to relate to it has expired and I can only find Delphi conversions of the code

This was the link on mdsn

What I''m looking for is a screensaver template or tutorial which doesn''t consume resources like they were candy, I''m currently using a modified version of the minimal screensaver by Lidstrum (modified to run at different resolutions)however it suffers quite badly on machines that are below 600Mhz despite the stand alone code running quite efficently.
If you have any suggestions I would be thankful, however dont bother recommending using the screensaver library as this doent run too well on Win 95 and 98 systems.

Thanks Kiel
Well, in case you''re still looking, I''ve found them again. They were on the VC++ disk that I have in the F:\DEVSTUDIO\VC\SAMPLES\SDK\OPENGL\SCRSAVE directory. If you don''t have the VC++ disk, just e-mail me if you still want them, and I could send you the source.
