There was a topic in these forums from about 5 years ago which led me here as a possible good resource to find the right game for us to play. A couple of us at the office are wanting to get a slow paced turn based multiplayer game going between 4-8 players. To work in an office environment we would really need it to meet the following criteria:

  • No feedback needed from players who are not on their active turn.
    • For instance if it's my turn and I attack someone they don't have to be there to choose casualties or hit a "defend" button.
  • Low footprint to avoid IT anger
  • Ability for it to be closed and resumed easily at a later time - aka Close it down Friday and restart it Monday
  • Does not require you to leave a client constantly open and watching the game for obvious work related reasons

I figure someone out there has to have built a game specifically designed to be played between coworkers which does not kill productivity. Any ideas?

Web based game, with timer based moves ?

These have existed since MUDs first started back in the 80's .

Over the years, I have seen everything from business games, to war-strategy games, to defending and grow your own kingdom games .

Utopia is the longest running turn & timer based game I have played ( 1999 ) that is still going to this day.

I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.

I thought this was about Multiplayer Microsoft Office Turn Based Game.

Based off the risk-boardgame.

The game progresses to the next turn when everyone has taken their turn.

Boot-times are fully customizable.

Neptunes Pride 2 was designed as a real-time, but long-running game... but that encourages people to check it constantly laugh.png
You can also start a game in turn-based mode to take that pressure away.

We semi-routinely play it in my office, but have to keep finding new players due to the heartbreak that intergalactic diplomacy causes...

Considering that Microsoft Office is following Google's lead in allowing multiple users to see each others' presence as they edit the same document, someone probably could create a multiplayer Excel game. smile.png
