Valve Source 2.0 Engine - Where is it?

I've looked around for examples, but I wasn't able to find anything except the Mar 2015 articles announcing it will be free.

Is there some magical hidden room I'm missing?

You just need to wait for valve products. They'll most likely ship it along with left for dead 3, which leaked a while back with information that it would be developed on source 2.

Well I don't want to wait. I want to make games with it now. cool.png

They ported Dota 2 to be using the Source 2 engine last June. Dota 2 is free-to-play.

I'm not sure if the Source 2 SDK is actually released yet, but maybe if you look into Dota 2 modding you might get more information?

[Edit:] It looks like the new Dota 2 modding tools using Source 2 might be in public beta, if I'm reading that correct. I don't know if that includes the source code.

They're probably waiting for Vulkan to be released, rather than scrubbing their sourcecode of all Vulkan references. [/speculation]

This matches what I found, which is that it isn't available yet. I was hoping for that "Oh, it's right here LINK" response. :-(

Sadly... it's stuck in Valve Time. The only way to get it would be when the Simpsons finally end, or Dr. Who appears near you with his Tardis.

Yes, I got into those tools a bit and wanted to try my hand at modding Dota 2, but it's a bit too slow on my computer right now. I'm hoping it'll get faster later in its development.

It has a good number of custom games being made for it already, some of which are copied from or inspired by old Warcraft III mods, like Pudge Wars and Elite Snipers.

It's all a bit glitchy now, though, I think, and my computer and WiFi has never been very compliant with Dota 2, so I can't say too much about it.
