I'm planning on submitting a game as my final year project. What documentation should I accompany it with? Is it a GDD? If so, is it similar to an SRS for a software? Examples would be helpful!

You're doing this project for what course or degree? If programming or computer science, then a GDD isn't the right way to go.
We don't have enough information about what you're doing.

What are the requirements for your project?

Submit whatever you need to for your assignment -- if you don't know what the requirements are you should probably speak to your teacher.

Yep, Computer Science. Dang :( Then what are the proper documents to go with it (apart from all the coding), if not a GDD??

It's basically a game built on Unity...just rookie stuff.

Have you tried talking to your professor? I don't know what an SRS is, but a game programmer would want to begin a project with a technical plan (a Technical Design Document) that's written after a GDD. Your professor might just want a list of requirements/specifications. If you want to go all out, write a game concept paper, a treatment, and a TDD. I doubt a CS project needs to go as far as a full GDD.
Read about 2-pagers, treatments, and GDDs at http://www.sloperama.com/advice/lesson13.htm
I haven't written an article about TDDs because I'm not an engineer.

I guess I'll just give them a hybrid of an SRS and a GDD...ughhh. Anyway, thanks for replying guys!

Talking to your professor is still a good idea.

Talking to your professor is still a VERY good idea. He/she will be giving you the grade, so finding out what he/she wants is really the best path to victory.
