I like Mondays, and yet I hate weekends.

Why is it that people's happiness tends to revolve around what day it is? It's as if everyone is programmed to be depressed on Monday, but happy on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. I never understood this. Well, to say I never understood this would be a lie, because I hated mondays before I graduated high school. I hated school, and even more so my ignorant, stupid and hopeless classmates who lived to make my life hell. So I hated every moment at school, and Monday meant the beginning of another 5 days with those pathetic and homophobic morons (no, I'm not gay).

Okay, enough ranting. I like Mondays because I like the thought of having a productive day, while normal business hours are most convenient. If I wanna see a movie, I'm doing it on a Monday, because hardly anyone would be there, and I hate crowds. Traffic (except for rush hour) isn't so bad on a Monday, so I can move freely without the hassle of the freeway being clogged with people that have nothing better to do. I hate weekends because it's harder for me to focus on productivity on a Saturday or Sunday. Also I get tired of walking down crowded streets of non-courteous peeps who expect you to make way for them. Long lines at theatres, certain businesses closed, rowdy drunks and crowds, annoying parades and marathons, and getting out of the city can take hours, especially when the major streets are closed down because of these special events that most people don't really care about. Weekends are so annoying.

Do people hate their jobs/lives THAT much? Tsk, tsk. I enjoy what I do, so that helps, I guess.

.

Depending on what study you read, only 2 - 5% of Americans claim to love the job they do.

There is a saying about this ...

.

if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life - because you will be unemployed .

I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.

I make my own schedule, so it doesn't matter to me. biggrin.png

If anything, I like my work too much ! happy.png

P.S. Over 90% of my work is at home.

Personal life and your private thoughts always effect your career. Research is the intellectual backbone of game development and the first order. Version Control is crucial for full management of applications and software. The better the workflow pipeline, then the greater the potential output for a quality game. Completing projects is the last but finest order.

I'm definitely in the "I hate mondays and love weekends" crowd.

I do hate my job, and am intensely jealous of the above poster.

It sounds like you just don't like other people.

How so? Now liking crowds == not liking other people?

I love weekends, though I like Mondays too, and I don't eagerly wait for Fridays. My job is nothing special, maybe the secret is that it doesn't require too much responsibility and it's usually interesting at the same time. So there's no stress apart from temporary annoying things, like something not working, deadlines are missed, etc.

Somewhat related topic: I could never identify myself with people whose mood depend so much on the weather, amount of sunlight/whatever. We have raincoats, we have vitamins etc. There is much more interesting things that the temporary state of weather.

I hated Mondays and hated for the weekends when I was in school. Boring and stressful times.

Is this generally how people feel in Magyarország? I ask because I am interested in your country's culture.

Um... The weather part? Anyhoo, I'm not an expert in my country's culture, because I'm not social and not smart enough to understand what's going on. Most people I know do complain lot and mostly talks about everyday uninteresting shit, like problems with their cars, their rent, buying an own flat, kids, jobs, job-seeking etc. Not problem related talks are about sex or football. Everybody is so grey and fckin grown-up here. Any they ask me why I'm so reticent and "antisocial".

Wow, that's disappointing. I assume you are in/by Budapest? I have a Hungarian friend who lives in west Hungary and prefers it over the larger city. Does anyone talk about Communism anymore? Or will that just result in injuries? :)
