WinXP AAAAARGH
Well....... thats a bit of a vague topic, so I''ll explain my problem.
I put windows XP on my system just to play with it for a bit.
Everything was going great, WinXP is a damn good OS, much better than WinMe....... but
Everything was going perfect until I went to install MSVC++ 6.0
It doesnt get past the first screen of the installer. It just crashes.. I get a box apologizing for the inconvenience.... no error given, meaning it leaves me right in the shnit.
Has anyone else had this problem before, or has a solution to it?
Im back on WinMe now and I hate it..... soooo unreliable and buggy.... so any help to get me back onto XP with MSVC++ would be hugely appreciated.
Thx in advance.

Just to make it clear...... its the installer that crashes, not WinXP.... WinXP has never crashed on me yet ( run for 3 days straight ).
I had the same problem when trying to put on 3dsMax4, because the installer''s themselves arent compatible with WinXP.... but I fixed the max problem by updating C-Dilla, but I have no idea how to get around the MSVC++ installer problem.
If anyone can help.... it''ll be hugely appreciated.

Wait for the .Net if you want to use Xp from what I understand wich isn''t much Xp is geared tword the .net platform so while there might be a way around your problem Im sure further errors will occur. Sorry I know that this doesn''t answer your problem but I hope I enlighten you even if just a little
Shot in the dark, but: If you have a component of visual studio installed, use the service pack before you install other components.

That''s not quite accurate. XP really doesn''t have anything to do with .NET. It doesn''t contain the .NET framework or any of the other components.

I agree that Me is shit
But Xp is also shit. Use Win2k, this one is good.

I had great problems while trying to install MSVC++ 6.0, or most programs and such.
When I was half through the installation process, I got a blue screen of death.
When trying to install MSVC++ i got a BAD_POOL_CALLER error, and when I to install Serious Sam (hilarious game) I get another bsod: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA.
I exchanged my DVD against a cd, and guess what - it worked.
I think my DVD is faulty. I shall turn it in.
