Hi guys and gals, I've been away for a while, but I'm now lining up my next big project and was looking for a little advice (not sure what forum it would belong in).
I am aiming to have a Kickstarter in late Spring or early Summer, I won't mention it by name as most forums have rules against crowd funding promotion.
18 months ago I had a Kickstarter for an RPG I was making solo, and it reached $3,000 out of a target of $18,000, which I thought was pretty good. The main problem was that I didn't do enough to promote the game BEFORE the Kickstarter.
Also the game at that stage looked awful...
Anyway now I am taking another shot at the same game now it looks a lot better and wondering what ideas you might have to gain an early following. Ideas like-
*YouTube tutorials on how I am making it
*podcasts on the design process
*blog on the general project
*releasing the story of the game as a series of eBooks
Really I am not sure what content and output people would value and respond to, so I am welcoming any ideas or thoughts.
Suggestions for Early Exposure
Ever heard of Secrets of Grindea?
IMO those guys done a great job: http://www.secretsofgrindea.com/index.php/dev-blog
They got quite a good pre-sale, IIRC.
Currently working on a scene editor for ORX (http://orx-project.org), using kivy (http://kivy.org).
