Hum... It occurs to me I don't have a clear impression of your game, which might help in naming it: what do players actually do in your game? (I'll note that I don't think that I've played games like eRepublic.)

You've said that players live out lives, but a more specific description might be helpful--what can one do, and how does one do it?

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Well, since it's a browser game, there won't be exploration (at least not so) like classic MMOs, basically players can work in their own or someone else's company, also manage own company (marketplace), they can train (for "battle") and they can "fight" even though it is quite simple, games of this genre uses a "fight" button as default, some interactive options are also available. Work and Train are by just clicking buttons one time a day, fight is by clicking buttons as much as you can afford times a day :)

And there are also political careers you can seek, there are elections each month , you can be president (have some authority (declare war etc) and can propose laws) or congressman (you can vote for laws, propose laws or accept citizenship requests from other nationalities) . You can also have a political party therefore a party president involves.

(There are also supplementary features like a Monetary Market you can exchange currencies, a Marketplace to buy/sell goods and companies, world map etc)

Beside that what actually keeps people playing these type of "click" games is community formed via newspapers players can publish articles at and RL or ingame based rivalry.

Hope this sheds a bit light.

Though judging from what you've posted you want something short and snappy (no multi-word titles like "Collective Control"... Pssst I snuck another name in. How crafty.) Something that works as one word is the preference?

It's ofc not mandatory but common practice afaik as it is expected to be browsergamename.com and available for registering. :) I hadasked at first page but couldn't get reply, I'd like to go such direction but I lack English for that fashion of prefix or postfixes (I had given example of Starbound , CityBound; so I am ok with a X+Y made name making a bit sense ( StateBound? smile.png ))

Btw would it be stupid to add "online" to end of name while there is no offline version ever? smile.png

What about "Nations Online"? :) http://www.gamedev.net/topic/664180-nations-online-free-browser-based-political-simcity/

You are still tormenting yourself with this? :D

nationsonline.com is taken

A practical tip, for a browser game thinking up a name is almost useless since it will be most likely already taken :) Instead I try various combinations of names on registrars (extremelly important: DO NOT DO IT ON GODADDY, they can and *WILL* register for themselves any sensible sounding domain name you enter in their search box (and then sell at premium) which you do not buy for yourself immediatelly, it happened a few timers to me already)

Another tip: forget about finding any "normal" name for online republic clone, everyone and his dog were attempting to make these for years (depleting the pool of possible domain names), try to think outside the box (some weird combination, or something)

Well, yes, I had same torment with company name and now with game name :)

Btw, I wasn't serious about nationsonline as can be seen at link :)

And for name, thanks for saying not to seek a normal name, better add some uniqueness, maybe I weld two words, to be seen.

Sorry for the slow reply.

State, yes, as another said, it means a sovereign entity (to some degree). A state can be independent, or part of a larger republic (which is what the United States are- originally a whole bunch of independent countries [sort of] who formed a republic). The EU is now almost what the USA used to be, and is also made up of states (which are countries).

In common usage, we have words like Sovereign state, Stateless alien, and as another mentioned nationstate, etc.

Try something along the lines of "State of _____", which creates a play on words; you get state, meaning country, but also circumstance.

Or you can put Sim after the other word, which breaks up the sim____ pattern of Maxis or EA.

Like: StateSim

State of Sim doesn't seem to ring very well, but maybe even something along those lines.

Thanks for reply. Finally I decide to use word "State" but I am more with "x State" , for "State of x" you see as opportunity I see as confusion :)

I checked a diplomatic terms dictionary and common usage is as "x State" (welfare state, coastal state etc)

So , now focused on finding x :)

Still tormenting myself with this, so today's names are : RisenState (seems there is a game series called Risen though) , TerraStates (not happy with including Latin though) or SocioState (doubt it makes any sense as meaning, maybe emphasizes social networking side of game)

Will really appreciate if someone saves me as apparently I can't myself.
