How do you make and manage an indie development team?

+1 for Orymus' suggestion.

Consider that part of the success of GameDev.net is that you have multiple people with similar interests are given the opportunity to share their knowledge that they've gained while working on their own projects. I think that even if all you do is provide people with resources and time to work on their projects in a group setting that fosters knowledge sharing and co-operation, you'll have enough on your hands logistically. And inevitably, other problems will occur where people will look to you for answers. Maybe in the end, there's a possibility that people will volunteer to help each other code but I don't think it should be mandatory (you're not running a sweat shop or a business here).

I would like to agree with @Tom Sloper when he says that would your friends be comfortable with that fact that you are delegating them work. Every person working with you is good at what he does. So always keep in mind that you need to be in continues communication with them. Understand them and know what are the boundaries of each person. If you would be able to do that then try building a good and healthy working relations with them. The key is that if you win their heart, then they would be more than willing to work for/with you.
