you know what I miss the most on google? Im not sure if its google or chrome. But long ago, you didnt need to wait the google page fully load to type on the search field. You where able to type even with the tab still all white, and after it loaded completely your entire text would be there, every single char buffered. Today you need to wait that shit load completely before start typing, just the last ~3 chars gets there, really annoying.

Google where so good man, its turning as really crap, specially that google+ account need on youtube, not to mention that youtube comments section is nuts

...nearly every other website requires there or a shared service(such as google+, facebook, twitter, etc) account to use their features (including gamedev!)

Is there any feature in GameDev that specifically needs those accounts (other than the share to Facebook/Twitter/etc. function)?

I'm not saying you require those accounts, just that to actually do stuff on gamedev you need an account, regardless if it's a gamedev specific account, or shared service account.

I find the complaints about requiring google+ hilarious. nearly every other website requires there or a shared service(such as google+, facebook, twitter, etc) account to use their features (including gamedev!). but when google starts requiring it for their own services(and a single account rather than 1 for each service), everyone freaks the hell out. seriously 2 seconds to create an account and never bother with google+ is all you have to do, yet all i see is people complaining about the fact that they need to have google+ to use google products.

It's people's paranoia on the whole NSA and the Internet privacy issues. Google is probably that one company who can capture all of your online and offline activities. Are you using Gmail? G+? Android phone? Chrome? Google Maps? The only thing that's preventing Google from inserting tracking in all of those is one regulation away. They have an army of lawyers who could make it happen. I wouldn't be surprised if they have done it already in some countries.

Isn't this already done with google analytic's? targeted ads based on browsing habits. considering most sites use google-analytics/google adSense for advertising, regardless if you actually use google, if the website your visiting uses google products, they can still track where you go on the internet. and they didn't need you to have a G+ account to figure out which ads to show you before, so it doesn't really matter if you have a fake/real account anyway. at best they just give you ads better suited to your tastes.

All I know is that since last November, about the same time they forced Google+, you are no longer able to reply to or rate comments that are older than about three months. I can only infer that these changes are connected. I can understand the need to change, but dropping basic functionality is unacceptable, in my opinion.

As you guys may know, there's been a petition going on to change the comment system back. At the moment, there are currently 49,183 signatures and there are 817 to go.

In Firefox I'm able to type right away.

It's more convenient that way, though I must admit, once you get your password compromised, your entire Google-based accounts are compromised

You know they support 2 factor authentication, right? I'm beginning to really hate dealing with every other 2-bit service which does not provide 2 factor auth.

Google allows a different user-name for G+ and youtube, for whom wants to keep them seperated.

Google probably should 've slowly expanded their services on a single main-account instead of starting up G+ out of nothing, but that's a lot of hindsight.

The forcing Google+ stuff doesn't even make sense by their own rules. Consider, I have a Google account for my phone, which (like many people) is separate to one I might use say for Youtube. So now I sign up for a Google+ on my phone for reviewing Google Play stuff. And then sign up for Google+ with Youtube - but now I have 2 Google+ accounts, which they say isn't allowed (unless they've changed this recently).

It seems a backdoor way of forcing people into using one account for everything. Which I don't want, nor do I want everything linked to my real full name.

From a developer point of view, I want people to be able to review my apps without needing Google+ - as now, it just means fewer reviews. Requiring a real name does nothing to benefit me (it does nothing to filter out unfair reviews, and I don't think we can actually see the names anyway, if people rate, but don't type a review).

On the plus side, the Android Google Maps seems to have reenabled offline maps again. Still a crappy implementation compared to what Nokia were doing 6 or so years ago, but better than nothing.

Part of the reason for millions of victims of identity theft is this anti-privacy movement in the western countries. By the time that you realize the security and privacy holes, then it could be too late. Hackers and malware are using the holes to send emails with links to the attacking URLs. When you click the link in the SPAM then you could be further opening yourself to attack. It seems that the extreme openness in the west is leaving us open to invaders. I believe that Google's sloppy ways can also leave us open to highly organized mass cyber attack.

Personal life and your private thoughts always effect your career. Research is the intellectual backbone of game development and the first order. Version Control is crucial for full management of applications and software. The better the workflow pipeline, then the greater the potential output for a quality game. Completing projects is the last but finest order.
