I have tried a couple of times to do a new version of Starflight, never managed to finish it.
Still the best game ever, 804 explorable planets, storyline, alien races, communications, easter eggs, all originally in 320K of compiled Forth.

I personally would like to see a "Firefly" game.
There's a fabulous boardgame. Does that count? I think there was some talk of a fan project MMO a while back, too.

How about an open world RPG/City Builder/Strategy game set in the Naruto universe? Not one where you play through the game plot as Naruto but one where you create a new ninja in a village of your choice and play out your own story in the back drop of the manga's overall story arch.
Either that or a non action and combat oriented Scifi RPG.
