Nice rant, Jeff
Been there, done that, got myself out of there.

Yeah, just to make you feel better Jeff, we all gotta put up with that (though probably not to the degree you do). Is there a company on Earth that actually gives a damn about its employees?
Just for fun, I''ll give my side. I work for Buhler Furniture (and if you''ve heard of Buhler and the Labour Board in the news a while ago, you already pity me, I''m sure). Hands up everyone who has a foreman/boss who thinks they know everything based solely on the fact they''re the foreman/boss. Y''know, "do it because I said so", smile and nod, etc. I don''t get any respect from anyone in management, been there 7 years and am one of the lowest paid for the time I''ve been there. But everyone I know there who I work with know they can come to me (and some refuse to go to anyone else) and know I do good work, so at least my peers respect me. The yahoos up front I could care less about. Don''t even get me started on their penny-pinching. And of course I dream of my dream job coding, which keeps me learning my ass off during the off-hours.
My fiance has a shit job too, especially these last two weeks (they called in an "efficiency expert" to evaluate everyone; need I say more?) but this is long enough.
My point? Just that I feel for ya, bud. Take your own advice and actively look for another job; you''re too good for them.

The thing I was wondering while reading your rant was, does anyone from your work read this page? I know if I wrote something like that on my site all hell would break loose here.
LOL (well to myself really to avoid stares),

Hmmm... Yes. I do recall one of your co-workers coming into the forum and saying you had the job from hell. So at least ONE looks at your site. I believe that was the day you told him you were "fashionably late" - hehe. Good thing your co-workers see your side of it, or at least one does.

Some constructive feedback:
a) Go to guru.com and earn some extra cash on projects that pay.
b) Start a portfolio of stocks, bonds and funds, now''s the perfect time since all markets are down, some recommendations: GE, NOK, T, M, NVDA, (this has already doubled in the last few weeks), MSFT.
c) Pay off your loans.
d) Reserve 1 hour a week to sit down and review your finances.
e) Write 3 things down a week that will earn money. period. At the end of the month, pick one and act on it.
f) Stop talking about how bad things are, start thinking about how good they already are and how great they can be. Make a 3 month, 9 and 18 month list of goals.
You can''t just expect things to get better. There''s a reason they call it work!
I could go on but you get the idea.

quote:Shit, that''s what I do (see above)!! Hey Jeff, post your responsibilies here, as specifically as possible, so I know what I''ll be doing in 3 years ...
For 8 of those 10 years I worked IN the plant. I started off at the very bottom of the ladder. My job was running the machines, manual labour. I made minimum wage and worked my butt off ... My first job out of school was cutting wood for a living!

Yes there is. Krome Studios. This is the games company that I work for as lead programmer. They actually do give a damn about their employees, and a big damn too.
