What music do you listen to when you are in the zone?

When I am in the zone, I listen to music I create each time on the spot: Clicks on the mouse for a nice beat, taps on the keyboard for a melody, and a solid bass line from the fan on the computer.

I restore Nintendo 64 video-game OST’s into HD! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCtX_wedtZ5BoyQBXEhnVZw/playlists?view=1&sort=lad&flow=grid

I used to listen to ambient jazz-rock (or I don't know how it's called, this stuff for example) or trash metal. But slowly I stopped listening to music while I work (unintentionally).

The best times, when I was totally zoned with the activity and I was new to music at the same time(basically I inherited my brothers' awesome collection), were when I was making my last paper model at the age of 16-17.

It's so hard to get to know good musics, and the old ones don't have that psychedelic effect on me any more, so I guess that's the cause of slowly stopping with listening to music ALL the time.

Psytrance or silence. Faster music if I know what I need to write and slower if I'm planning/analyzing/debugging.

Music with a strong beat acts as an extremely effective mental stimulant for me and gets me off my lazy ass when I feel like working on hobby coding at home.

House or Hardstyle music XD while programming keeps me motivated

Electronica and lower-tempo house, but really quiet as I get distracted waaaay too easily.

I usually listen to podcasts rather than music whilst coding. Either comedy or radio dramas. A lot of people ask me how I can manage to listen to chatter and code at the same time but, I just seem to zone out.

what is zone?

Being "in the zone" is basically achieving a state of flow where you become deeply immersed in the task at hand. If you've really never experienced this you're missing out!

It's hard (impossible for some people) to intentionally trigger a state of flow ("get into the zone") but whenever possible it's well worth a small amount of effort to set up your working environment to be conducive to flow so that it's more likely to happen for you, especially if you're able to do the set-up once but benefit many times. Things that can help include removing distractions, making sure your work-area is comfortable and has everything you need within easy reach, and even choosing the right music (or silence!). smile.png

"in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus" - i think i knowwhat is saying here (this energized focus) but when i am programming (and i am doing it for years already) personaly i am not in it (and i do not want it)

Mostly ambient / liquid drum and bass mixes on youtube. SuicideSheeep is the perfect channel :)

If you don't want it I'm not sure if you've understood it properly, as I'm not sure what could possibly be undesirable about being really really productive. smile.png
